Asiad Squad for Pencak Silat, 20 aspirants dropped by IOA

Pencak Silat is a full body fighting sport which included throwing and grappling along with the use of weaponry. The Asiad 2018, a multisport eventĀ  to be held from 18th August will be having Pencak Silat included.

IOA, announces the squad for the selected athletes who will be participating in the sport. Of the 22 athletes selected initially, only two could make it to the final list declared by the Indian Olympics Association.

There were a total of 524 athletes selected of which four member triathlon was dropped off for providing misleading information.

The original squad consisted of 6 Sambo athletes which included 2 male and 4 female athletes. The Indian Pencak Silat Federation(IPSF) was unhappy with the decision of IOA and also threatend to take legal action claiming the players as medal contenders.
