The Gold medalist team of 2014 Asian Games held at Incheon will be striving hard this time to retain their position which will automatically qualify them for a berth in Tokyo Olympics 2020. Yes, the Indian Hockey team that defeated Pakistan in 2014 is raring to go this time and the participating players have already been declared as follows:

Coach : Harendra Singh

Goalkeepers : PR Sreejesh(Captain), Krishan B Pathak

Defenders : Harmanpreet Singh, Varun Kumar, Birendra Lakra, Surender kumar, Rupinder Pal Singh, Amit Rohidas

Midfielders : Manpreet Singh, Chinglensana Singh Kangujam(Vice Captain), Simranjeet Singh, Sardar Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad

Forwards : SV Sunil, Mandeep Singh, Akashdeep Singh, Lalitkumar Upadhyay, Dilpreet Singh

Rupinder Singh replaced Jarmanpreet Singh while Akashdeep replaced an injured Ramandeep Singh with the rest of the squad being the same under the captaincy of veteran player PR Sreejesh which played in Champions Trophy.

The team will be playing five practice matches against Korean team and three against New Zealand team.

Harendra Singh, the coach added that these practice matches will make the Indian team ready ahead of the Asian games and also win gold in the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
